Whitechapel Holiday Cottages

A little bit about us.

Woodburner - Whitechapel Holiday Cottages

Whitechapel Cottages is a family run business. Owners have farmed at Whitechapel Barton for 40 plus years and started running holidays soon after they moved here in 1971.

Since 2004, Chris has returned to the family farm after many years of working and travelling overseas as a freelance Outdoor Instructor. Chris and family now live on the farm and help run the family business. Chris, as well as managing the holiday cottages continues to teach climbing, kayaking and canoeing locally and onsite to our guests. Hes also on hand to point you to some interesting spots on Exmoor, Dartmoor and North Devons award winning beaches.

Whitechapel as well as being a quiet place for you to walk your dog in an ancient woodland or listen to the owls, we are also a great place for a group booking beit an International family reunion or a location for your wedding accomodation.

We will welcome you to your cottage and be available on-site for any issues that may arise, unless we are on an occasional holiday ourselves!

Whitechapel Barton is located on a south facing valley surrounded by its 250 acres of farmland which in turn is encircled by over 250 acres of woodland.  Whitechapel contains the two cottages – Cartwheel Cottage, Groom’s Lodge and the farm house, Barton House. The old farm yard has now been landscaped into a courtyard garden. The farm was once part of an Elizabethan Estate and was mentioned even earlier in the Doomsday Book.
